“Lean on Me”:
The Power of Friendship
RHS Tatton Park Show
The themes for the Community Border section were “colour” and “love”. I decided to create a border that was a tribute to friendship in all its many forms which, as this took place during one of the lulls of the pandemic, felt particularly topical.
The bench in the dappled shade of a young tree is a place for sharing thoughts and the curving white birch fence is made of branches that are, like friends themselves, all shapes and sizes, tall and short, thick and thin. The flowers and grasses create an immersive sway of colours that is both restorative and vibrant. The textures are soft and tactile with the occasional spiky and zestful interjection.
